Movember..........time to make a difference

It is that time of year to get those moustaches growing, get people talking about men’s health and raise funds for further research and treatments!

Did you know?

Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides.

The team behind Movember work hard to raise these issues on a global scale by funding groundbreaking projects all over the world to accelerate change.

Here at Freedom Works we believe that we can make a real difference across all of our spaces even if just one male member in each space took part in the ‘Grow a Mo’ challenge!

We team up together on a daily basis whether we are networking together, raising money for charity or simply enjoying a shared lunch so let's team up together and address both the physical and mental health of men this November.

The story behind Movember…

So in 2003 two friends set up the organisation in Australia with 30 people getting involved and little money raised for men's health and now the Movember movement has spread globally with more than 5 million ‘Mo Bros’ and ‘Mo Sistas’ providing inspiring support  around the world.

How we as Freedom Works members can take part?

1.  Sign up to ‘Grow a Mo’ online and of course get growing your moustaches. Please do feel free to tag us in any updated pictures and posts as we would love to share these on social media and spread that word a little further!

2.  Move this Movember by running or walking 60 kilometres over the month. That’s 60 kilometres for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.

3.  We will be hosting a ‘Mo-ment’ in some of our spaces to keep an eye out for further details on our sites. Members from the charity have said “It’s the easiest way to stop men dying too young. Let’s talk, Cook up a fancy dinner, Tee up a sports match, Pump the tunes at a party. Or set up a Shave Down – a group shave-off of facial hair to get the month started.”

For further details or to sign up to any of the above challenges visit https://uk.movember.com/get-involved/host.

Keep your eyes peeled and let us know if you want to get involved with support Movember this November!
